Debbie & Peter-The Sugar Wharf, 22nd July 2016

The Bedford Bar, Sugar Wharf, Port Douglas

As seems to be the trend with our weddings this year, it was still raining 2 days before Debbie and Peter's wedding. And it was truly torrential, flooding kind of torrential.

The wedding was originally looking to be held at The Rainforest Grotto, a secret and beautiful spot hired by Port Douglas Weddings and Hire but with the ground not just wet but completely under water, the decision was made to relocate the wedding to beautiful The Sugar Wharf just 2 days before the big day. if you don't know The Sugar Wharf, it's a heritage listed timber building located in Port Douglas overlooking the Dickson Inlet. A wonderfully rustic venue but also an almost blank canvas.

Debbie and Peter were super lucky on the day with blue skies and climbing temperatures to join the beautiful streams of sunshine reflecting off the inlet. Guests had come from around the world, from Debbie's native Scotland, Germany and all over Australia to celebrate. Escorted from St Mary's Chapel with bagpipes, there was scottish dancing and a magical first dance which made everyone keen to join the newlyweds on the dance floor!

The drinks certainly flowed at this wedding! Due to the heat, the chilled kegs of Pilsner and Cairns Lager were extremely popular and as the evening wore on vast quantities of Scottish whiskey were consumed which definitely seemed to increase the frequency of the Scottish dancing! Our Berry Cooler cocktails were popular amongst the ladies, especially the beautiful Bridesmaids in their perfect pink dresses.

What a magical evening!
